You just stepped in the doors of 305 Jefferson Street and yes, you feel may like you just stepped inside Entertainment 720.
Welcome to the land of redpepper, where all of your creativity and big ideas can get put into action. Where you can learn more about the world of technology and marketing in 3 weeks than you did in 4 years of college. I have at least. Sure, we’ve got a putting green, basketball hoop, ping pong table and beer on tap, but what you’ll want to take advantage of most during your time here are the creative geniuses that make this place so unique. Now let’s get our day started with a 2000’s hip hop playlist to get your mind bumping and grinding in all the right ways.
redpepper has no dress code. That means you can walk in the door as fly as 50 or you strut in wearing your favorite sweats and hoodie. rp lets you be you. They don’t try to change that. In fact, they encourage it. Ever heard the analogy that America is a melting pot of cultures? Well picture a bunch of little pots all on one stove. Well the stove is redpepper and all the different pots are filled with fondue.
It’s 10 o’clock and we’ve got Coffee and Questions! Coffee and Questions is an AMA style meeting all interns participate in with each department of redpepper. This week’s is with the rp Marketing Team, so let’s see if we can get some insight as to how redpepper rents out their space to other companies for offsite meetings. Bring your notebook and as many questions as you have as we get to pick the brains of everyone at redpepper, because they’re smart! And they care about sharing their knowledge!
It’s 11 o’clock and you have some crazy ideas you don’t know what to do with? Well let’s go Bounce with someone! Bouncing at redpepper is where you literally bounce ideas off of each other. The other day I bounced with one of our UI/UX designers about combining Crate and Barrel’s registry offerings with tech gear offered at Best Buy. Did you even think that was possible!? I sure didn’t. Go put your heads together and see what you can come up with!
1 o’clock has rolled around and I really need to stick my head into some research on Starbucks’ loyalty rewards program. I’m going to go Zone where I won’t be bothered and I won’t get distracted by having to tell people to move on up out my way. How will I ensure that I won’t bet distracted by anyone? Well redpepper has 3 “Zones” which are small rooms with just a desk and a white board. Write your name on the outside of the door and what time you’ll be “Zoning” until and not a single person will interrupt you. Even if the building is on fire. Just kidding. Should I pick the End Zone, Danger Zone or Cal Zone? Trick question because it doesn’t matter! They’re all awesome and quiet.
At redpepper you won’t often hear the word “no”. In fact, no matter how extraterrestrial your thoughts or ideas may be, you’ll more often find someone lean with that idea, maybe even rock with it, than you’ll find them shutting it down completely. You want to create a string instillation that spells out inspirational words? Well that idea was already accomplished by our New Business Strategist, Samara, for our February cover photo, but I like where your head's at!
It’s 3 o’clock and I’ve finished zoning! I just showed what I completed to my manager, Victoria and, oh what’s that? I got some love in the Appreciation Station! The Appreciation Station is a company wide messaging channel where we put all of our thanks and recognition for each other’s hard work and dedication. At redpepper no hard work goes unnoticed. Keep people up to date on what you’re working on and you’ll be sure to have them saying they like the way you do that right thurr, right thurr.
It’s Wednesday! That means at 4:30 we get to lean back with the whole company at Alignment. Sit back and relax as you get to see someone present a Redbit, which is a Ted Talk style presentation from one of the peppers on anything and everything, so long as it’s educational and relevant. Last week I learned about The Hero’s Journey from Molly, one of our strategists! The Hero’s Journey is a metaphor for an inward journey to explore our deepest thoughts, experience enlightenment, and return again to live and communicate what we’ve learned. It’s that type of forward thinking that challenges me to learn more each day that I am at redpepper - both personally and professionally. Also there’s beer! And wine!
If you want to hustle, if you want to grow, if you dream big at night and even bigger during the day, then redpepper just may be the place for you. You say you have big goals? Let redpepper be the place that helps you reach them.
