What did you do after your internship?

I'm interning in London in conjunction with class at a thinktank called the Institute of Economic Affairs, and interning at a place called tastytrade (which also doesn't capitalize its name) in Chicago over the summer, and going back to Vandy for senior year next fall.

What are you doing now? What's a day in the life?

In London, putting vinegar on my "chips," saying things like "cheers" and "smashing" like Austin Powers would, and traveling Europe because I'm ~abroad~.

Did redpepper help in your personal growth (during or after your internship)? How so?

Yup, my creative process improved tremendously.

Did you learn anything at rp that you've applied to your career path(s)? Anything surprising or unexpected?

Some project management skills along with general ability to communicate (i.e.: at my current internship they're working on appealing to the right people and helping them improve that comes pretty naturally to me after working at rp).

What things do you miss most about redpepper?

Super cliché but the people and the culture! The New Biz team (shout out to Victoria, Samara, & Tucker) was super fun and it was pretty much always just a good feeling walking into the space each day.

If you could go back in time, would you intern all over again? What would you do differently?

Yup, and yup. I would be a little more proactive in seeking out some more work around some of the stuff I was passionate/curious about, like the full process of creating an ad.

Any advice for current and/or potential interns to get the full experience?

Meet everyone, they're friendly af.

What did you do after your internship?

I switched gears back to being a student at Union University.

What are you doing now? What's a day in the life?

I'm currently finishing my Senior year with a degree in Digital Media Studies.

Did redpepper help in your personal growth (during or after your internship)? How so?

Absolutely, the internship at rp greatly influenced my vision for the future. I now have a much clearer understanding of how a creative agency works on a daily basis.

Did you learn anything at rp that you've applied to your career path(s)? Anything surprising or unexpected?

More than anything it affirmed that I was studying and practicing skills that I could use in a professional setting.

What things do you miss most about redpepper?

The genuine trust and teamwork I saw between coworkers who were working on a project together. That and free beer.

If you could go back in time, would you intern all over again? What would you do differently?

I would be more intentional about spending time with the employees. Getting to know the people I worked with was awesome, but I wish I'd gone out of my way to get to know people in every department.

Any advice for current and/or potential interns to get the full experience?

Work your butt off.

What did you do after your internship?

I went back to school for my last semester in college and graduated early with a focus in Marketing.

What are you doing now? What's a day in the life?

Now, I work in the Nashville area with a great job in underwriting. My coworkers are wonderful, and I work a great schedule with every third Friday off. I spend a lot of time with my family and am finding some really interesting new friends.

Did redpepper help in your personal growth (during or after your internship)? How so?

I am from a VERY small town, and I had always been super quiet and shy in the past. When I got the opportunity to intern at redpepper, I made a choice to put myself out there and allow myself to really let go. As a result, I made some amazing friends from all over the US and have memories that will last forever. I had been so reserved out of discomfort and insecurity in my small town where being different wasn't always a good thing. But being around such interesting people, both interns and rp employees alike, helped me gain confidence in who I am and how I present that to others.

What things do you miss most about redpepper?

I really miss hanging out with all of the creative, knowledgeable people and hearing their unique stories. The knowledge transfer about everything, not just work-related topics, was incredible.

If you could go back in time, would you intern all over again? What would you do differently?

Not a thing, but I'd love the opportunity to relive it. :)

Any advice for current and/or potential interns to get the full experience?

Get outside of your comfort zone, but stay true to yourself. You may just learn much more about yourself than you ever anticipated.

What did you do after your internship?

Started working at Grey in New York City.

What are you doing now? What's a day in the life?

Working in account management at Grey. My team and I maintain all of the advertising (print, digital, tv, CRM, and social media) for Ally Financial (Bank & Auto).

Did redpepper help in your personal growth (during or after your internship)? How so?

Yeah, it was a good internship. The company culture is unlike any other agency out there.

Did you learn anything at rp that you've applied to your career path(s)? Anything surprising or unexpected?

I learned how to perform the day-to-day tasks necessary for maintaining a successful client relationship.

What things do you miss most about redpepper?

All the peoples (they were like a family to me).

If you could go back in time, would you intern all over again? What would you do differently?

Yeah, fo sho. I wouldn't have done anything differently.

Any advice for current and/or potential interns to get the full experience?

Don't be shy. Hang out with all the other interns, as well as everyone working there. Eat all of the free food and enjoy the free alcohol responsibly. Keep Ryan up-to-date on any juicy shenanigans that happen. Good luck with getting a paying job out of college (the real world is rough).

What did you do after your internship?

After interning I went to graduate school for my Master's in Psychology (emphasis on social psychology research).

What are you doing now? What's a day in the life?

I am now in Cincinnati working as a Program Manager at Cintrifuse, which is an organization that supports entrepreneurs by connecting the region’s high-potential, venture-backable startups to advice, talent, funding, and customers.

Did redpepper help in your personal growth (during or after your internship)? How so?

Yes, I absolutely loved interning at redpepper! My time at redpepper ignited my interest in applying the concepts I studying in my research to areas outside of academia. Connections from my time at redpepper also put the growing startup ecosystem in Cincy (#StartupCincy) on my radar, which (along with some other twists and turns along the way) lead to the role I am in today!

What things do you miss most about redpepper?

I definitely miss the unique, hard-working people at redpepper - they were a great bunch to work with!

Any advice for current and/or potential interns to get the full experience?

My advice would be to not be afraid to jump in. Try to challenge/stretch yourself - there is always something else to be done and going outside of your specific responsibilities to help out can go a long way in both helping your team and learning something new.
